Ingredients

  • Caramel
  • 1 c. brown sugar

  • 1/3 c. butter

  • 1/4 c. light corn syrup

  • Dough
  • 1 c. warm water

  • 3/4 c. half-and-half

  • 1/2 c. sugar

  • 1/4 c. butter, melted

  • 3 Tbsp. regular yeast

  • 1 Tbsp. salt

  • 2 large eggs

  • 5 c. bread flour

  • Filling
  • 8 Tbsp. butter, melted

  • 1 c. brown sugar

  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. cinnamon

Directions

  • Make the Caramel:
In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the mixture comes to a boil. Once boiling, let it cook for an additional minute without stirring. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, half-and-half, sugar, and melted butter. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it’s foamy.
Add salt, eggs, and 2 cups of bread flour. Mix until combined, then gradually add the remaining flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  • Prepare the Filling:
In a small bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  • Assemble the Rolls:
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 16x24 inches).
Spread the filling mixture evenly over the dough.
Roll the dough tightly from one long side to the other to form a log. Slice the log into 1-2 inch thick rolls.
  • Arrange the Rolls:
Pour the caramel mixture into the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Place the rolls on top of the caramel, spacing them evenly.
Cover the dish with a cloth and let the rolls rise again until doubled (about 30-45 minutes)
  • Bake:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Serve:
Allow the rolls to cool for a few minutes, then invert the dish onto a serving platter to let the caramel drizzle over the rolls. Enjoy!
